This was my first Christmas to have a real Christmas tree.
I was so excited that we decided maybe we should name him. We named him Simon. And he is still alive and hanging out in our living room where he will remain until the 4th of July.
Christmas was really special this year. We missed spending it with family, but it was nice not having the hustle and bustle to distract us from the real meaning of Christmas.
We spent Christmas in a log cabin in Leavenworth, WA at The Sleeping Lady Resort. Amazing place – definitely worth checking out online. The photos and descriptions are better than anything I could provide you with. Dinner and breakfast are included with the stay, and they had all organic and local ingredients. I kept going back for seconds at the salad bar because they had this “stuff” that I tried (and loved) but I couldn’t for the life of me figure out what it was. Finally I asked the chef. Apparently I have an affinity for pickled baby squid.
Anyway, Leavenworth is a quaint little Bavarian village in Easern Washington.
We walked around a lot of shops, had some beer and brats with sauerkraut and ate it outside under heating lamps. Not exactly your typical Christmas food…but it should be. 😉
